Pico Island
Pico, the second largest island in the Azores, is named for the mountain that rises 2,351 meters (7,713 feet) from its western half.
The dormant volcano is not only the highest mountain in the Azores, but the highest mountain in Portugal. From the top, you can see the islands of Faial, São Jorge, Graciosa, and Terceira.

Faial Island
Faial Island is known locally as Blue Island, a name which was popularized from the description of Raul Brandão in "Unknown Islands", and is separated from Pico Island by a narrow arm of the sea, 8.3 km (4.5 nautical miles) wide.
The climate is temperate oceanic, with annual average temperatures ranging between 13 °C in winter and 22 °C in summer, with frequent gales and a relative air humidity on average above 79%.

São Jorge Island
São Jorge Island, located in the heart of the archipelago, is undoubtedly a place to stop when visiting the Azores.

Flores & Corvo Islands
It is believed that Diogo de Teive was the navigator responsible for the finding of this faraway land. The name Flores (Flowers) is believed to be associated with the abundance of natural flowers that the island showcased as early as the 1470s.
The sighting of the island of Corvo by the Portuguese navigator Diogo de Teive might have occurred in 1452, at the same time as the discovery of the island of Flores.

Graciosa & Santa Maria Islands
Santa Maria shares with Graciosa, Flores, and Corvo the sad circumstance of being unknown to most Azoreans. And yet, "the island of Gonçalo Velho", the oldest of the archipelago and the first to be sighted, is extraordinarily beautiful and full of contrasts.
An unusual nature, with steep ravines and deep valleys, Santa Maria are two on a single island in only 97 km2 of surface: one side is mountainous and covered with massive vegetation; The other is absolutely arid, known as the "red desert."
